Forklift Hydraulic Control Valves - The function of directional control valves is to route the fluid to the desired actuator. Generally, these control valves comprise a spool positioned inside of a housing made either of cast iron or steel. The spool slides to various places in the housing. Intersecting grooves and channels direct the fluid based on the spool's position.

Typically, directional control valves are designed so as to be stackable. They usually have one valve for each and every hydraulic cylinder and a fluid input that supplies all the valves within the stack.
